Origin of the term "screw you"?

An episode of "What the Victorians Did for Us" said that in Victorian-era England prisons, solitary prisoners had to turn a crank 10,000 times a day. To make things harder, the jailer would come along and tighten the screw on the crank every so often. A possible origin of the term, "screw you"?
